How we work
Every Studio 72 home follows the same considered process — one coordinated path from design through approvals to delivery, kept aligned under a single accountable team and refined across decades of custom residential design.
Design strategy
It starts with a focused design strategy — understanding your goals, your site and what's possible, and studying the site's full potential in Scout™, our proprietary analysis platform. That's the foundation for a clear, tailored way forward, with your budget aligned from the outset and a proposal scoped to your project. And where funding is required, we work with you to line it up early — through Stuart, our specialist broker at SGB Finance — so lending is aligned with the design from the outset and one of the most stressful parts of building is handled for you, rather than left as a hurdle later.
Design development
We confirm the site analysis, capture your brief and wishlist, and arrange the site survey the design needs. We then develop a custom design to a considered standard of inclusions, paired with an early, aligned build estimate — and refine it with you through unlimited design revisions, within reason, until you're completely satisfied the design is right and aligned with your budget. It's then presented for your approval, grounded in how you want to live and what you want to spend.
Development consent
We coordinate the entire approvals process for you — our planning specialists leading the advisory work, engaging and managing every consultant the project needs, and preparing the design documentation and compliance assessments into a single, lodgement-ready development application. We lodge with council and manage it through to consent — the public notification period, the conditions council attaches, and the design updates needed to satisfy them — then finalise your approved drawings for sign-off. One team pulling every thread together.
Construction
With approval secured, we prepare the tender and construction documentation, lock in your final inclusions and coordinate a clear, aligned build contract with your builder. Construction then begins, and we stay involved through the build — keeping the design intent intact — through to a finished, handed-over home. Design, approvals and build under one accountable process, from first concept to keys.

Studio 72 Design is carved from almost five decades of custom residential design — the work of co-founder Richard, delivering bespoke homes across NSW and South East Queensland. Today that experience is a focused design studio: Richard's custom design leadership, joined with co-founder Will's commercial and delivery framework and Jade's operational rigour, so good design is delivered on the ground, every time.
